From the latest reviews, owners often describe being able to get “sensible” advice over the phone and being kept informed during urgent care (one owner mentions regular updates during an emergency case for their bulldog). However, a minority report serious concerns including alleged incorrect weighing/dosing leading to a higher medication dose, difficulty being seen for a late-day emergency due to no availability, and hygiene/cleanliness issues in clinical areas—so experiences appear mixed depending on the visit and staff involved.
Based on the clinic’s website summary and the latest reviews, services and capabilities mentioned include
Some reviewers also mention a previous vet who has since left, with one person stating they felt the service “went dramatically downhill” after that change—suggesting experiences may vary by clinician.

I can't recommend Swan vets enough. Everyone has been so kind and welcoming and it is clear how much everyone really cares for the animals. They have always been available on the end of the phone giving us sensible and caring advice.

They take very good care of my Chihuahua and cat. That review was written when my pets were seen by a previous vet who has since left the practice. I moved vets because the service went dramatically downhill when he left. The vet prescribed antibiotics for my Chihuahua that was too strong for her weight. It clearly said on the instructions per dosage per kilo of dog. The vet (perhaps a locum with very poor English) kept saying the meds won't poison my dog and in her country its a regular dose? I have a Chihuahua! I Made a complaint and very little got done. Bad atmosphere in the vets with the staff since the previous vet left. I took my business elsewhere. I consider my pets my children and I expect correct dosages of medication. The waiting room looked like it needed a good scrub and there's was even blood in the vets consulting room when I took my dog in that hadn't been cleaned up!

Absolutely awful place to take your pets. I do not trust them at all. I used them for convenience in 2011 as I lived in the flat above, then moved out of Aberdeen. Back in 2011 it was walk in service and what I liked was that there was no fee for check ups. I moved back to Aberdeen in 2023 so went back there for the same reason, but the walk in service had stopped since covid, which I accepted. I had various health concerns with my cats. My kitten suddenly started breathing rapidly and I was seriously thinking I was losing him. I phoned the vet at around 5pm. The receptionist told me that I can't be seen as there was no availability. When I reiterated that its an emergency she still said I can't be seen. I had to wait to call the "emergency" phone line which opened an hour and a half later!! Then my older cat went in for a meds check. I asked if she could weigh her. Vet said she already did but I never saw her do this. Vet said my cat was 6kg. This raises concern for me but the vet failed to mention her weight until I had asked, and she told me to feed her less food. She got a prescription for her medication at the higher dose according to her weight. I went to another vet to get a second opinion. She did not weigh 6kg!!!!! My cat was only 4.9kg!!! So not only did the vet get her weight wrong she gave me a wrong prescription which meant I would of been overdosing my cat on her meds!! Also, I was aware I was due a bill which I explained I would pay up which they agreed was okay. When I was requesting my prescriptions from them they would email them to me and there was no mention of a fee for this service. It was sprung upon me that they was adding these fees to my account without asking me. So now I have a hefty bill that in due them which could of been avoided. Because I have more money to pay them I will be in debt which I didn't want. Also, the last time I was there, there was a very sad case where a lovely lady was saying goodbye to her pet. The staff came out to tell us politely fir when the lady came out the room. However they didn't cover up the animal before the customer left the room. I thought that was very wrong and should of been covered. There was a young child in the waiting room and luckily never saw it! I wouldn't recommend this vets at all.

I’ve been using Swan vets for years and cannot recommend them highly enough. My cat has had quite a few health issues recently and they have been brilliant with him. I trust them and have always been charged a very reasonable price

A wonderful vet that goes above and beyond to ensure they care for your pets with the same care for yourself. They made sure I was in the loop the entire time my bulldog had to undergo emergency services and helped me through all of my anxiety at both their Holborn and Dyce locations. I could not recommend them more.

We have been taking our Chihuahua Toots to Bostjan at Holburn Street for a few years. Bostjans treatment of our pet has been exemplary and he is also veey courteous and polite. The reason we keep goin back to Bostjan is that we have been to many various vets over the years and unfortunately we had some bad experiences which had left us anxious regarding vets but upon taking our pets to the Holburn Street practice it became very clear very quickly that Bostjan put our pets wellbeing first and foremost and for us that gave us the thing we were looking for the most in a vet, trust. Excellent vet. In my opinion the best vet in Aberdeen. A practice can have all the newest equipment & facilities as well as an abundance of staff but nothing is more important and valuable to a pet owner than trusting the vet and having a vet who truly and sincerely wants to do the very best for the pets that they see.
